Hua Ting Restaurant

Wasabi shrimp - 9/10 Crispy on the outside with a wasabi mayo coating. prawns were very fresh, with a springy texture to it

Hua Ting Restaurant. Rated 3 stars by Wine and Dine magazine. (There's only either 1, 2, or 3 stars)

We decided to venture out for some good chinese, and this restaurant apparently had pretty good reviews. not having excessive pretentious decarations and focusing on the food instead is something that ranks quite highly in my book.

Overall the food was good, with some outstanding dishes. Probably is one of the best chinese restaurants serving cantonese cuisine in Singapore.

Crab meat and crab roe shark's fin soup - 8/10

Overall pretty good but could have been better. Not as creamy and thick as from Lei garden. Their's is still the best.

Double boiled shark's fin with cartilage. 6/10

Supposed to be one of their signature dishes. I personally didn't like it. Too bland for my taste. But a generous portion of shark's fin was given. its supposed to be really good amongst those who actually know how to appreciate it though.

Tofu with brocolli - 5/10

Standard good stuff. nothing exceptional

Fried Cod - 8/10

my mom and my brother love fish (and i don't) and apparently they said this was really good. so i guess i'll have to take their word for it.

Steamed hk style fish - 7/10

Black pepper beef - 8/10
Succulent and very tender

Ox tail - 7/10
Pretty good. Meaty and tender.

the one most worth mentioning out of all is the roast duck.

roast duck - 10/10

Wow. I know it doesn't look like much, but trust me it was incredible. From the moment i put it in my mouth, it was exploding with flavor. The duck is roasted PERFECTLY. A light and crispy skin on the outside, not too oily and not too heavy, with a tender and very moist meat on the inside. It was so good that we ordered another half of a duck!

and you HAVE to eat it with the skin. the flavor was incredible.

the wasabi prawns pictured above are worth a mention too.
