after our little shanghai adventure, d and i came back. however after awhile, we actually craved some goood shanghainese food again. i really wanted some badass drunken chicken and she wanted some juicy sheng jian baos like we had in ye shanghai (see the shanghai series). btw, we were sick of eating xiaolongbaos because we ate xiao long baos practically everyday, simply to try to find where the best xiao long baos were in shanghai (turned out to be a close fight between DTF shanghai and Crystal Jade, the one actually in shanghai) but i've never eaten sheng jian pao in sg so i had like totally no idea on where to get them' babies.

so anyway after having drunken chicken and sheng jian bao withdrwal symptoms for a couple weeks, we managed to finally find this place that supposedly had decent shanghai cuisine. there are only 2 outlets in sg. and apparently i found out that crystal jade is NOT made up of just CJ kitchen, CJ restaurant, CJ golden palace and CJ express. (APPARENTLY they have a lot of other variations of crystal jade. wth its like confusing enough trying to figure out where to eat and you want to give me 50 different TYPES of crystal jade. no shit man that is whack) one in changi airport T3 and the other in great world. so since i live in the east, i naturally went to the one at T3.

the drunken chicken turned out to be just ok, nothing special. for a restaurant that supposedly specialized in shanghainese food, i expected much more from the drunken chicken. its not bad. but its not anywhere near good either.
the sheng jian baos weren't fantastic either. nowhere near shanghai standard. i think crystal jade needs to better the quality of its shanghainese food before mass marketing it to the public.
all in all though, the food there was prettty ok. not super good, but not horribly bad if you have the shanghai food craving.Crystal Jade Shanghai - Changi Airport T3
Price- about $15-20 per dish
