Megumi

california handroll 8/10

Megumi is this great little jap restaurant i've been going to for a couple years now. usually i go there with the family. they love going there for two reasons. firstly jap food is something usually everyone is ok with. secondly its really close to my home. its like one of those nice quiet little jap places where you get really quality food.

most of the food here is pretty good. the sashimi is fresh. the sushi, both the handrolls and the maki are pretty good too. the mains are good. they have ramen (which i love), and japanese fried rice, and all sorts of interesting things. i guess thats one thing which is really good about them. they have a large variety of everything. so i decided that i should post about them here since i go there so often.

stone bowl chicken with rice. 5/10

zaru soba 7/10

the buckwheat soba is really good too. i really like buckwheat soba. funny i used to hate eating buckwheat soba when i was growing up. insisting that i had chasoba (the green tea one) instead.

grilled unagi 7/10

edamame

edamame. to be honest, i don't see the point in eating edamame. its just beans man. hahaha.. how great can it get. it seems girls really get off on this.

garlic and prawn fried rice. 8/10

oooh i really like this one. there's just something about japanese fried rice that taste damn good. i think its the freshly fried garlicy aroma that fills the air around it. that plus its fried so simply with salt and pepper and not heavy on the sweet sauce like some asian fried rice. this really leaves you tasting the bare essense of the grains itself.

baked scallops with cheese and mayo 9/10

this was really super cheesy and mayo-ey. really good if you can tolerate the thickness of the dish. tastey.

so that wraps it up for this post. if you guys are ever in the east area, do drop by at megumi. its along east coast rd. next to the pasta fresca (abit further down towards bedok simpang side from siglap center). who knows, maybe you'll see me there.
